Wearable Product Design for Vision Acuity by eSight

Vision is one of the most important and supportive senses and visual acuity is something that most of us are very dependent on.  Legal blindness can cause a major disruption to one’s life, especially if they experience it at a later age. TriMech loves to be a part of a community that is extremely progressive in social innovation. We love that our home country is constantly producing innovative methods to ensure that we are continuously improving the lives of others.

Our friends at eSight, a Canadian firm in Ottawa, have recently created a unique wearable product design that provides individuals with vision impairment with the ability to see. Kevin Rankin, CEO of eSight, developed the eSight Eye Wear with the hope to impact the lives of the visually impaired.

eSight’s Wearable Product Design

The glasses are designed to take a video of the user’s surrounding, and project a user specific high definition display onto two lenses that are embedded within the goggles. These projections happen in real time, using the high definition camera along with OLED screens displaying news feed of the users surrounding. The peripheral of the user can be adjusted to the headset with a bio-optic tilt giving them the ability to manoeuvre the display. A hand controller is connected to the device to help adjust different components within the goggles.

This hand controller is considered to be the mastermind of the entire device with its ability to adjust pixels on the goggles while providing battery power for the goggles themselves. Trial users have already experienced the revolutionizing power of the wearable product design and are eager to share their overwhelming experiences to inspire other users. eSight is currently working on making the wearable product design more cost efficient in order to reach to a wider demographic.

TriMech loves that eSight shares our passion to bring forth a better and brighter future for our community. With eSight using their cutting-edge technology to disrupt the optometry industry, there is no doubt the lives of many will change for the better!
